A small forested oasis forms Deerview Park in the Bear Mountain neighborhood of Langford, B.C. With a view point to the southeast, a bench provides a place to rest near the intersection of Spirit Ridge Drive and Deerview Place. The park is partially landscaped with grass and several trees. In behind the bench is a small second growth forest that covers most of the one third of the hectare area that forms the parkland. This park is on a ridge of Miniskirt Mountain near Bear Mountain. Spirit Ridge Park, Quail’s Run Park, Bear Spirit Green Space, Players Park and Nature’ Gate Park are nearby.

Deerview Park can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway, also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and turn left onto Bear Mountain Parkway. Continue along BMP to reach Players Drive. Turn left onto Players Drive then right onto Spirit Ridge Drive. Continue along Spirit Ridge Drive to reach Deerview Place. Turn right onto Deerview Place and look for the park at the corner. There is limited parking along Deerview Place.

Players Drive Park

The two and half hectares  of Players Drive Park is stretched over a long area in Langford, B.C. A concrete walkway leads into the parkland from the sidewalk along Players Drive. The walkway is near the postal boxes. A gravel trail continues up into the second growth forest composed of Douglas fir, cedar and arbutus trees. The route heads up hill though ocean spray, salal, snowberry and broom shurbs. Gardner Creek starts along the slopes of Players Park and flows toward Mill Stream via Blue Grouse Plateau Park, BMP Green Space, Stone Gate Park, Setchfield Park and Lake Ida Ann Park. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. The trail leads to a Players Drive Green Space which is between homes 2228 and 2232. Scotch broom has taken over the areas where the soils were disturbed. Spirit Ridge Drive, Quail’s Run Park, Blue Grouse Plateau Park, Nature’ Gate Green Space, Nichlaus Park, Rockhampton Park and Rockhampton Nichlaus Green Space are nearby.

Players Drive Park can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and turn left onto Bear Mountain Parkway. Continue along BMP to reach Players Drive. Turn left onto Players Drive and look for the park on the right after passing the junction with Spirit Ridge Drive. There is limited parking along Players Drive.

Timber View Green Space is in the Bear Mountain neighborhood of Langford, B.C. A forty meter long concrete pathway leads to a gravel footpath into Spirit Ridge Park. Frequented by hikers, walkers and dog walkers, the view from Spirit Ridge Park is to the east toward Mount Baker in Washington State, USA with San Juan Island, Saanich and Victoria in the foreground. Thetis Lake Regional Park forms the forested area seen below the parkland. Players Park, Quail’s Run Park, Spirit Bear Green Space, Nature’s Gate Park and Nichlaus Park and Deerview Park are nearby.

Timber View Green space can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and turn left onto Bear Mountain Parkway. Continue along BMP to reach Players Drive. Turn onto Players Drive and take the first left onto Spirit Ridge Drive. Timber View is the next left just after the curve in the road. The trail is near the end of the road. There is limited parking along either road.

Spirit Ridge Park is in the Bear Mountain neighborhood of Langford, B.C. This park has two sections that are separated by Spirit Ridge Drive. The east section is about two hectares in size with mostly steep inaccessible slopes. This area lies behind the homes along the eastside of Spirit Ridge Drive. The west section is about a third of a hectare and is a nature park. There is a concrete sidewalk that parallels the roadway. Spirit Ridge Park is accessible from Quail’s Run, Timberview Place and Players Drive. It shares borders with Players Drive Park and Quail’s Run Park. Douglas fir, arbutus and cedar trees grow along the northern slopes of the park, whereas the steep southern slopes are covered with Scotch broom shrubs and other plants that grow on disturbed soils.

Spirit Ridge Park can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and turn left onto Bear Mountain Parkway. Continue along BMP to reach Players Drive. Turn onto Players Drive and take the first right onto Spirit Ridge Road. A rough trail lies to the park is seen just past Quail’s Run. Alternatively drive to the end of Timberview Place and access the park from the pedestrian walkway. There is limited parking along the roadways.
