Phelps Road Green Space

Phelps Road Green Space connects to Millstream Creek Trail and Goldie Park. This forty meter long gravel pathway from Phelps Road has a laurel tree hedge along the south side. The pathway is then lined by wooden fences with several tall cedar hedge trees providing shade. Once past the homes the trail widens slightly to connect with the trails along Mill Stream. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. There is about five kilometers of Mill Stream that lie within the City of Langford. Gold Park, Goldie Trail, Millstream Creek Trail, Millstream Creek Park, Ecole Millstream Elementary School Green Space and Thetis Lake Park are nearby.

Phelps Road Green Space can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and turn right onto Treanor Avenue just before the log house pub. Make a left turn on to Bellamy Road and another left onto Phelps Road. The trail access is between homes 630 and 638 at the end of the road. There is limited parking along Phelps Road. City buses travel along Treanor Avenue and Bellamy Road.

Millstream Creek Park

Millstream Creek Park is along the west bank of Mill Stream in the Thetis Heights neighborhood of Langford, B.C. The park hosts several tall cedar trees that border a gravel pathway. Sword ferns, snowberries, Oregon grape and other small shrubs thrive in the shady soils underneath the forest. The pathway connects Hoy Lake Avenue with Millstream Creek Trail. This trail branches north toward the wooden bridge and Goldie Park and south to the bridge over Treanor Avenue. The park is bordered by the wooden fences of the neighboring homes. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. The stream flows into the waters of Price Bay in Esquimalt Harbour which is part of the Salish Sea. The park is also near Ecole Millstream Elementary School Green Space, Thetis Lake Park, Peacock Place Green Space, Bellamy Park, Gourman Park and Goldie Park and Trail.

Goldie Trail

Goldie Trail is a wide gravel footpath along a reach of Mill Stream in Langford, B.C. It starts fifty meters to the northwest of the playground at Goldie Park. The trail which lies along the east and west side of Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek, leads to a distinctive riveted steel bridge. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. Its gravel pathway continues to the west section of Goldie Road. Along most of two hundred and thirty meter long route are tall western red cedar trees. Several trees have grown from old stumps. Sword ferns and salal plants fill in the understory. A gravel service road parallels the pathway which leads to the end of the golf driving range in the All Fun Recreation Park. The riparian along the stream is created by alder thickets and tall cedar trees. Douglas-fir trees are also seen in this second growth forest. This is a great place to explore nature in your backyard.

Goldie Park

Goldie Park is in the Thetis Heights neighborhood of Langford, B.C. The park is about half a hectare in size with a playground that was built with support from the Kinsmen Club in the year two thousand. The play area is partially surrounded by a chain-link fence and concrete walkway. A pea-gravel base lies under the paired toddler and child swings. The swings are next to the wooden playset that is designed for toddlers. A ramp leads to the bright yellow tunnel that is beside blue and white tic-tac-toe tiles. There are also a couple of steps up to the tower which can be exited using the yellow slide. This park has a few places that are good for parkour too. There are picnic tables and benches near the playground. Goldie Trail is a wide footpath about fifty meters further along Goldie Road. It follows the stream to the unique riveted steel bridge that crosses over Mill Stream. The gravel trail on the left side of the park leads to Mill Stream Creek Park. A long board walk and wooden foot bridge allow access across Mill Stream. This gravel trail continues south toward the Millstream Elementary School Green Space and Treanor Road. Kestrel Rason Green Space, Thetis Lake Park, Haley Rae Place Green Space, Peacock Place Green Space, Bellamy Park, Gourman Park, Millstream Creek Trail and Park are nearby. Well shaded by tall cottonwood and cedar trees, Goldie Park is a great place to explore in your backyard.

City buses travel along Bellamy Avenue and Phelps Road.
