A large Wark gneiss knoll lies along the eastern end of McCallum Road Park near the Millstream Shopping Center in Langford, B.C. Covered with mosses and several small oak and arbutus trees, this inland bluff also has seasonal meadows of camas lilies and grasses. The metamorphic bedrock in this park is about a hundred meters high and has a twenty meter cliff on its south east side. Enjoy the wonderful view of the surrounding area in your backyard. McCallum Road Green Space, Sunshine Park, Selwyn Trail, Selwyn Park, Millstream Creek Trail and Ecole Millstream Elementary School Green Space are nearby.

McCallum Road Park can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road then take the first right onto McCallum Road which leads to ward the Millstream Shopping Center. Exit the small traffic circle to continue up the roadway. Stay on McCallum Road as to end at the High Park Estates. There is plenty of parking near this park. City buses travel along Millstream Road.

Selwyn Road Park

Selwyn Road Park is a small grass covered area in the Thetis Heights neighborhood of Langford, B.C. There is a short gravel pathway that connects with Selwyn Trail, a gravel and dirt pathway along a ridge above Mill Stream. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. There is about five kilometers of Mill Stream that lie within the City of Langford. Selwyn Road Park has London Plane trees along the sidewalk and snowberry and blackberry bushes near the trail. McCallum Road Green Space is nearby.

Selwyn Road Park can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road and continue to the log house pub and turn right onto Treanor Avenue and turn right onto Selwyn Road. There is parking along roadway near the park which lies between3387 and 2393. City buses travel along Treanor Avenue.

Ecole Millstream Elementary School Green Space

Ecole Millstream Elementary School is located in the Thetis Heights neighborhood of Langford, B.C. The school was built in nineteen fifty nine and is part of the Sooke School District number sixty two. The green space is about one and half hectares in size and dominated to two large grassy fields with goal posts at the ends. The two playgrounds are at opposite ends of the green space. Asphalt along the sides of the school building is painted with hopscotch and four square games. The basketball court is at the back of the school grounds near a playground. Benches are found throughout the green space. The playground near the front of the school has climbing apparatus with several platforms. Use the climber’s slope, fireman’s pole, spiral bars, curved monkey bars. A yellow double slide is separate as are the swings. The set at the back of the school has swings and climbing apparatus. There are raised garden beds near the school. Mill Stream flows along the back of the school grounds separated by a chain link fence and the Millstream Creek Trail. Mill Stream, or Millstream Creek as it is often called, is the main waterway in a watershed that starts in the Gowlland Tod range of the Highlands and includes seven lakes and numerous ponds. Goldie Park, Millstream Creek Park, Millstream Creek Trail, Thetis Lake Park and Selwyn Road Park are nearby. This is an excellent green space to enjoy after school.

Goldie Park

Goldie Park is in the Thetis Heights neighborhood of Langford, B.C. The park is about half a hectare in size with a playground that was built with support from the Kinsmen Club in the year two thousand. The play area is partially surrounded by a chain-link fence and concrete walkway. A pea-gravel base lies under the paired toddler and child swings. The swings are next to the wooden playset that is designed for toddlers. A ramp leads to the bright yellow tunnel that is beside blue and white tic-tac-toe tiles. There are also a couple of steps up to the tower which can be exited using the yellow slide. This park has a few places that are good for parkour too. There are picnic tables and benches near the playground. Goldie Trail is a wide footpath about fifty meters further along Goldie Road. It follows the stream to the unique riveted steel bridge that crosses over Mill Stream. The gravel trail on the left side of the park leads to Mill Stream Creek Park. A long board walk and wooden foot bridge allow access across Mill Stream. This gravel trail continues south toward the Millstream Elementary School Green Space and Treanor Road. Kestrel Rason Green Space, Thetis Lake Park, Haley Rae Place Green Space, Peacock Place Green Space, Bellamy Park, Gourman Park, Millstream Creek Trail and Park are nearby. Well shaded by tall cottonwood and cedar trees, Goldie Park is a great place to explore in your backyard.

Turn right onto Treanor Avenue then make a left turn onto Bellamy Road. Continue up the hill to reach Goldie Avenue then turn left. There is parking near the playground at 649 Goldie Avenue. City buses travel along Bellamy Avenue and Phelps Road.
