Ruth King Elementary School Green Space

Ruth King Elementary School Green Space is in the downtown area of Langford, B.C. Evelyn “Ruth” King was a teacher and principal at in the Sooke School District who was known for her independent, strong and loving approach to education. This green space is available outside of school usage. This three hectare school yard has a one and half meter tall chain link fence along the perimeter of grounds with a number of openings for pedestrians. A stroll along the perimeter is about seven hundred and fifty meters. There are several sports fields for soccer, baseball, football as well as a paved court for basketball games. The two playgrounds are found at the ends of the school along Jacklin Road. The southern play ground has climbing apparatus that leads to a platform play area while the northern play area has a small set of climbing areas with slides. Several swings are found here too. Sunderland Peatt Green Space, Arnote Park, Sunderland Deville Green Space, Porcher Park and Peatt Green Space are nearby.

Ruth King Elementary School Green Space can be reached from the Trans Canada Highway also called Hwy1. Turn at Millstream Road/Veterans Memorial Parkway and head south to reach Goldstream Avenue. Turn right and travel along Goldstream Avenue to reach Jacklin Road. Make a right turn onto Jacklin Road and look for the green space on the left. City buses travel along Goldstream Avenue.
