Her Majesty Ship Thetis, a British frigate, was the inspiration for naming Thetis Lane located in the James Bay neighborhood of Victoria, B.C. HMS Thetis navigated the waters of the Salish Sea and around the Gulf Islands and provided the name for Thetis Island. Thetis Lane is a paved narrow street that is more of an alley way. The roadway is shaded by horse chestnut and cedar trees. Cedar and laurel hedges as well as wooden fences separate the properties along the lane that connects Beacon and Niagara streets. Since Thetis Lane parallels Douglas Street and is close to Beacon Hill Park, Holland Point Park and South Park Elementary School Green Space, your walk can be easily extended. Come on out and walk in your backyard neighborhood. Violet Lane Green Space connects Thetis Lane with St Andrews Street and is a similar alley-like road.
