Victoria West Park

Archives

This park has pretty much everything that a urban park can hold. It is lovely! Victoria West Park is a great park in about a three hectare area with several large Garry oak and horse chestnut trees. There are plant displays to complement the large grassy areas. The playground is great. There are couple of swings set away from the climbing structures and curly slide for young children to explore. The play equipment is on a sand base so bring some shovels and buckets, if you like. A youth park, aka skateboard park, is huge. At about quarter of a hectare in size, it lies along Esquimalt Road between excellent basketball court and the lawn bowling greens. The skateboard park has rails, a plaza area, stairs, ledges and a capsule bowl. Benches and picnic tables invite you to linger, perhaps to watch your child on the playground. Victoria West Lawn Bowling  Club has a field along Esquimalt Road, although it is accessed from the parking area off Bay Street, that is fenced with limited access.  There are baseball diamonds that double as soccer and rugby fields. Toilet facilities are found just off of WilsonStreet. The two hundred meter paved footpath connects Esquimalt Road to Wilson Street and is frequented by dog walkers. Another one hundred meter footpath connect Esquimalt Road to the parking area off of Bay Street. The Leonardo da Vinci Center, an Italian Cultural Club, is near the parking lot off Bay Street.
