A professional ball field that is used for baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, soccer and other large capacity events forms the Royal Athletic Park. It is the home park for the two sports teams. The Victoria Highlanders Football Club plays mainly in the United Soccer League (USL) Premier Development League (PDL). The Victoria HarbourCats baseball team plays in the West Coast League, a top collegiate summer baseball leagues in North America. The 2.25 hectare park is completely fenced and has limited access at all times. The stadium, built in the early nineteen hundreds and rebuilt in the nineteen sixties, has a grandstand seating for over five thousand people with capacity for nearly ten thousand. The area has lights for evening practices, games and activities. Royal Athletic Park is kitty-corner to Central Park and Crystal Pool across Pembroke Street. North Park’s native plant garden is across Vancouver Street near the junction with Pembroke Street.

Royal Athletic Park can be reached from Blanchard Street. Turn east onto Caledonia Avenue at the Save-0n-Food Memorial Arena and continue past the Victoria City Police Station at Quadra Street. The park is on the corner of Vancouver Street and Caledonia Avenue with the street address of 1014 Caledonia Avenue. The park borders on Cook and Pembroke streets. There is limited roadside parking along Vancouver and Pembroke and plenty of paid parking areas nearby. The bus route along Cook Street stops near this park.
