This trail and green space is formed from the road allowance provided for the north-south lay of Alder Road in North Saanich. The North and South portions of Alder Road Trail consists of a series of trails that connect roads and parkland on the Saanich Peninsula between Wain and Hillgrove roads. The multi-use trail is well used by hikers and horse-riders as well as cyclists. Traveling across the diverse terrain of North Saanich, the trails are bordered by broad leaf maples, cedar and Douglas-fir. Where the lands were once farmed the trails contain more alder and cottonwood. To extend with walk in your backyard, take any of the branches of the trail to reach Alder Road South which also connects with the trail beside Gardner Pond.
