Pachena Park, North Saanich

This small ecological reserve provides good views of Piers Island and the waters of Swartz Bay and Colburne Passage.  There is a bench to rest as you watch the BC Ferries navigate the Salish Sea and get ready to dock in Swartz Bay. The natural rough trail from Pachena Place connects to Ravenscroft Place. A large old Arbutus tree accents the trail at Pachena Place and a cedar hedge forms a border along the trail. The forest cover is mainly second growth Douglas-fir and cedar.

You can get to Pachena Park from Pat Bay Highway. As you near the ferry terminal in Swartz Bay, stay to the right to exit the highway. At the light turn left and follow the signs to Lands End Road. After you pass the ferry terminal, take the first right onto Piers Road which ends as Pachena Place. Alternatively turn on Ravenscroft Place and look for the trail once you reach the turnabout. In either place, there is limited roadside parking.
