Beacon Park, Sidney-by-the-Sea

Archives

While the namesake for Beacon Avenue rests on top of the pole near the water’s edge, Beacon Park on the left side of the wharf. The intriguing bandstand and artwork in Beacon Park will make you want to linger. With the Fish Market, on the wharf, and the dock for the seasonal ferry to Sidney Island, this park provides picturesque vista of the ocean and surrounding islands. From here, you can also catch a passenger ferry, during summer months, to some of the local islands.  The big white bandstand is a sheltered place to enjoy a break while on your stroll or take in a performance. Stroll along the walkway from the bandstand, northward to the Seaport Park, Port of Sidney, or head southward to the promenade wharf near Eastview Park.

You can get to Beacon Park by taking the Beacon Avenue exit off Pat Bay Highway. Continue along Beacon Avenue to the traffic circle and look for parking. There is a lot of parking but be aware that this is also a busy area. The closest bus passes along Fifth Street.
