I always enjoy visiting the charming Saanich Peninsula and recently walked around the vibrant community of Sidney-by-the-Sea. This friendly town has several ocean side walking paths, beautiful parks and green spaces, even in November.
I enjoyed the beautiful views of the Salish Sea with its many islands as well as the Cascade Mountain range with Mount Baker visible. I strolled along, with my dog, nearly three kilometers of public accessible waterfront – including many beaches and a few fine neighborhood parks in this lovely town. I found that this area is easy on pedestrians as the terrain is relatively flat and there are many places to explore for every interest level. As an outdoor enthusiast, this blog describes the parks, playgrounds, and green spaces within Sidney-by-the-Sea.
Sidney-by-the –Sea is bounded by the Salish Sea to east, North Sannich to the north and west and Central Saanich to the south. This urban community also borders on the Victoria International Airport and associated airfields.
I share these parks with you to encourage you to explore this neighborhood by foot. Each place takes less than an hour to explore. Exploring your community by foot is wonderful and healthy way to experience the areas around your backyard with the added bonus of frequent rest stops for young and old. The parks, playgrounds and green spaces are described from north to south. A brief description of the nature of each town park is provided with directions.
